PTA Newsletters

The PTA plays a key role in the life of the school. All parents automatically become member of the PTA when their child enters school. The PTA meets regularly and organises social and fund raising events.

What do we do?

The PTA aims to bring the school community together through social activities, with the emphasis on having fun, and at the same time raising funds so the school can provide items that it could not otherwise afford.

How do we raise money?

The majority of the PTA funds are raised through the Christmas and Summer Fayres.

The PTA recognises that a variety of events is key to building a strong PTA and that different events and activities will appeal to different people. The Committee would therefore like to hear your views on the kinds of events that you would be interested in attending or events which you would be willing to help organise.

How is the money raised spent?

Spending priorities are identified by the Headteacher and school staff, in consultation with the PTA Committee.

Recent items purchased from PTA funds include:

  • ICT Suite donation of £10000 to help set up
  • A Lighting and Sound System for the school hall
  • The Adventure Playground
  • Gazebo
  • 35 Samsung Tablets

In addition, the PTA supports school trips and other special events.

How Can You Help?

There are lots of ways you can help the PTA and support your child’s time at St Joseph’s. New members on the PTA Committee are of course always very welcome. However, any offers of help and support are gratefully received, the PTA Committee is always glad of a few extra helping hands, and any offers of assistance are much appreciated.

During this time of uncertainty we have started a competition page for the children to send us their work – the PTA will be awarding prizes for the best entries in each competition.

DESIGN A ‘MEAL IN A BUCKET’ (Weeks 11 and 12)

For this week’s challenge, we asked you to send us a design showing the different things that you could grow in a container that could then be used as ingredients for a meal and we had some excellent entries!

Well done to Oscar (Y5) and Indi (Y6) for their winning entries!

PRAYER AREAS TO CELEBRATE OUR LADY (Weeks 9 and 10)

May is the month for honouring Mary – the Mother of God – in a special way. It was lovely to see some of your prayer areas that you had made at home where you could gather with your family to pray together.

Well done to Edward Weston (Y1) and Edith Martin (Y4) who won our competition.

STORY TELLING VIDEO CHALLENGE (Weeks 7 and 8)

We are now onto our fourth competition and we have really enjoyed seeing all of your lovely entries.

This week’s competition is all about reading.
Can you record yourself reading part of your favourite story?
1 minute will be plenty.
You may want to use props to help, the more creative the better!

Winners :
KS1 winners are Olivia and Filip Mazur with the help of Antoni (y5). Filip read ‘The Cat In The Hat’ and Olivia and Antoni helped bring the book to life as Thing 1 and Thing 2- phenomenal effort made by all 3!
KS2 winner is Anabel Collins for her great reading of ‘Top Marks for Murder’ by Robin Stevens, Anabel used props and had really taken time to plan her video reading. Well done to Anabel.
